Occidental commencement is held outdoors at the Remsen Bird Hillside Theater — the Greek Bowl amphitheater carved into the hillside on upper campus — and the morning of, the cream-stucco Mediterranean Revival quad with its red terracotta tile roofs and white classical columns becomes one of the most photogenic graduation backdrops in Los Angeles. It's also a high-emotion stretch for families flying in from out of town, and the logistics around a small hillside campus in Eagle Rock can catch first-time visitors off guard. The ceremony itself doesn't accept third-party deliveries during the procession — no florist can drop a bouquet at the Greek Theater while graduates are walking — so we deliver to where your family actually lands. Whether you're sending flowers to a Tiger in a residence hall, surprising family staying at a hotel in nearby Pasadena or Highland Park, or having the bouquet waiting at the post-ceremony brunch spot, we'll get it to the right Eagle Rock-area address by 7pm. Oxy undergraduates wear a black bachelor's gown, black mortarboard, two-tone black-and-orange tassel, and an orange Class sash — a palette that rewards bouquets in warm oranges, creams, and editorial neutrals, and punishes anything blue-or-purple-dominant that fights the orange sash.

Where to send graduation flowers

The iconic Oxy portrait moments — the ones that fill family camera rolls — happen at a few specific spots on campus, but they aren't delivery destinations. The Lucille Gilman Memorial Fountain (the redesigned circular fountain plaza at the main south entrance, framed by Herrick Chapel and Hinchliffe Hall) is the post-ceremony tradition where graduates pose, jump in, and throw caps. The Remsen Bird Hillside Greek Theater is where the ceremony itself happens, and Patterson Field and the Academic Quad host portraits and the post-ceremony reception. None of these accept third-party flower deliveries during commencement.

What we actually deliver to, by 7pm same-day: Occidental residence halls on campus, off-campus apartments around 90041 and Colorado Boulevard, family hotels in nearby Pasadena and Highland Park (properties like The Langham Huntington in Pasadena and Hotel Constance Pasadena are typical out-of-town family stays), and any private home or restaurant in the 90041 area. For ceremony day, the right address is usually the hotel or the post-ceremony brunch spot — pick somewhere the bouquet can wait safely until the moment of surprise.

Why a local florist beats a national relay

National florist sites take an Eagle Rock order at their headquarters, then relay it through whatever local shop happens to be open in the 90041 zip code that afternoon. The design budget is capped, the florist is anonymous, and the bouquet in the photo is almost never the bouquet that arrives. Bloom Boom is the local design studio — you order with us, we build it in our studio, we drive it to Occidental. If something is off at the door, our driver reaches the studio in one call.
